How to respond to the Global Goals
December 14, 2015
We are all familiar with the concept of ‘taking care of the environment’ and preventing climate change. But how much do we actually follow and actively take part in making a difference in?
In September we saw the launch of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2015, a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. There are 17 Global Goals, each of which is geared towards transforming the world through sustainable development on a global scale. The Goals have already received in huge influx of support, having been endorsed by famous faces and industry leaders across the world.
In addition, this November a United Nations Conference on climate change was held in Paris to finalise the Cop21 agreement.
“It has been widely recognised, with unanimous agreement from scientists, that the earth’s atmosphere is growing warmer due to greenhouse gas emissions generated by human activity. The aim of the Paris Conference that was held from 30 November to 12 December at the Le Bourget exhibition centre was to come up with a response to this problem, which is threatening to wipe out the human presence in certain parts of the world.” – Cop21
Whether you are familiar with these agendas or are only reading about them for the first time now, there is something you can do to help. Sharing news and developments and goals is a great way to get started!
Below are a few questions that we would like to put to you, to find out more about how young people are responding to the SDGs:
Which of the 17 Global Goals means the most to you?
If you could support that goal in any way, how would you do so?
If you could pick three goals to share with your friends and family, which would you pick?
How do you think you and your family could work together to help achieve those goals by 2030?
Do you believe that it is possible to make these goals a reality? Why?
